Tap

Dancers learn how rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on dancer’s heels and toes. ADA requires dancers to be age 5 to enroll.

Modern

This strong & expressive style arose as a reaction to Ballet. Dancers begin on the floor to learn how to curve & lengthen the spine while using the breath to initiate movements. Once standing dancers learn to use gravity to fall and recover to standing. Movements range from sharp & direct to smooth and flowing. ADA requires dancers to attend 2 Ballet classes a week in Elementary level or higher to enroll.

Ballet

This flowing & graceful style originated in fifteenth century Europe. Dancers begin holding on to a barre to learn balance and strength by holding the body still while moving their legs and arms. They then move to the center to practice these movements. This style includes a lot of stretching and lengthening of the muscles. ADA requires dancers to be age 7 to enroll.
